Why Choose Black Locust for Your Deck?

  • Where Black Locust really stands out is its ability to resist rot. The heartwood is rich in natural compounds—flavonoids and a preservative called robinin—that protect it from the fungi and bacteria that typically break down lumber. In fact, the USDA Forest Products Laboratory rates Black Locust as “exceptionally decay-resistant.”

  • No imports. No rainforest harvesting. We ship Black Locust decking to builders and homeowners nationwide. Request a free quote or sample and we’ll send it to you.

In addition to shipping throughout the entire north-east, we have sent many decks to Texas, Louisiana, California and Washington State.

  • Black Locust is naturally harder than oak and ranks right alongside teak -without the high price tag. That means a surface that resists dents, scratches, and everyday wear.

When it comes to strength, Black Locust outperforms traditional pine decking and even synthetic plastic boards. In practical terms, this means your deck can handle more weight, span wider gaps, and stay solid for decades—all without chemical treatments.

  • Sustainable, safe, and eco-friendly.

Black locust is one of few trees that can take nitrogen from the air and place it in the soil (through the roots) for other trees and plants to use as food.  As a fast growing hardwood, it is the ideal tree to plant when reforesting cleared land.

  • Holds up in the elements with minimal upkeep.

Black Locust Decking does not require any finishing after installation, however if you would like to preserve the color of the wood, you can stain it.
